Our Approach to Therapy in Virginia

Balanceworks Counseling was founded in Arlington with a clear vision: a practice where specialized care actually means something. Our team includes licensed therapists, a registered dietitian, and Board-Approved LPC Clinical Supervisors working together under one roof — not a referral network, but a genuinely integrated clinical team.

We are trained in EFT, DBT, RO-DBT, CBT, and Family-Based Treatment, and we bring that depth to every client relationship. We work from an attachment-based framework and believe that real change happens in the context of a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship — not just through insight or skill-building alone.

We are an out-of-network, self-pay practice because we believe the right match and adequate time are non-negotiable conditions for real change.

Why Virtual Therapy Works for Virginia Residents

Whether you’re in Northern Virginia and simply prefer the flexibility of online sessions, or you’re in a more rural part of the state where specialized care is harder to find, virtual therapy gives you access to the same high-quality, evidence-based treatment you’d receive in person.

For eating disorder recovery in particular, having your therapist and registered dietitian collaborate through a shared virtual care model can be a significant advantage — no matter where you live in Virginia.
