Meredith founded Balanceworks Counseling with the vision of creating a practice where both clients and clinicians could grow. She is extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), RO-DBT, DBT, CBT, interpersonal and attachment-based approaches, and has significant experience helping individuals, couples, and families heal from eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and relational distress.
Her work is grounded in the belief that insight alone isn’t enough; real change happens in the context of a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship with clear structure and support.
Clinical Supervision & Practice Culture
As a clinical supervisor, Meredith loves mentoring therapists and building a practice culture rooted in learning, collaboration, and balance. At Balanceworks, balance doesn't mean getting everything perfectly even. We see it as an ongoing process of adjusting to what we need and long for, both in ourselves and in our relationships. Meredith encourages clinicians and clients alike to practice this with self-compassion and curiosity: curiosity about emotions, behaviors, needs, and attachment longings, in how we relate to others and to ourselves.
For Balanceworks clinicians, this means actively shaping how work and life responsibilities fit together, so that work can feel joyful, interesting, and inspiring, and home life can feel that way too.
Working with Meredith:
I started Balanceworks because I believe therapy works best when people feel safe enough to be fully themselves, including the parts they usually keep hidden. Whether you're working through something painful, feeling stuck in old patterns, or just sensing that something needs to change, I'll meet you where you are.
My work is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Radically Open DBT (RO DBT), DBT, and CBT. I don't use one fixed method, though. We'll work out together what fits your needs and your pace. Clients often tell me our sessions feel both structured and human. We do real work, and there's still room to breathe, reflect, and sometimes laugh.
Eating Disorder Recovery
Recovery is more than changing behaviors around food. It means understanding what the eating disorder has been doing for you, and building a life where you don't need it anymore. I work with the emotions, beliefs, and relationship patterns underneath the symptoms, and I approach every part of your experience with compassion, not judgment. For clients who struggle with perfectionism, rigidity, or a strong need for control, I often draw on RO DBT to build more openness, flexibility, and connection. I aim to work collaboratively using a team approach (whether that be with a Registered Dietitian (RD), Medical Provider/Psychiatrist, or couple/family therapist so your care feels coordinated and supported.
Couples Therapy with EFT
Most couples who come to see me aren't short on love. They're caught in a painful cycle that keeps pulling them apart. Maybe one of you pursues while the other withdraws, or the same argument keeps coming back with different details. Using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, I help you slow that cycle down and see it clearly, and then reach the deeper feelings and needs underneath it. The goal isn't to decide who's right. It's to help you feel safe with each other again, so you can turn toward one another instead of away.
