Eating Disorder Therapy for Sustainable Recovery
At Balanceworks Counseling, we provide specialized eating disorder treatment that goes beyond symptom management. Our work focuses on healing your relationship with food, your body, and yourself, while addressing the anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, and relational patterns that often keep the cycle going.
Many of our clients already know what they “should” be doing but feel unable to follow through. Therapy helps bridge that gap with structure, support, and a deeply attuned relationship so change becomes possible in real life, not just in theory.
We work with children, teens, college students, and adults at many stages of recovery, from early intervention to ongoing healing and relapse prevention.
Sessions are available in person in Arlington, VA and virtually across VA, MD, DC, WV, NC, SC, and FL.
How We Work
Eating disorder recovery is most effective when care is collaborative and individualized.
Our team-based approach may include:
-
individual therapy
-
nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian
-
family involvement when appropriate
-
coordination with physicians, psychiatrists, or higher levels of care
We use an attachment-based, non-diet, intuitive eating, Health at Every Size®–aligned framework that prioritizes medical safety, emotional healing, and long-term sustainability, not quick fixes or rigid meal plans.
Together, we help you:
-
reduce eating disorder behaviors
-
restore trust in your body
-
normalize eating patterns
-
build coping strategies that actually work
-
reconnect with your life outside the disorder
